The place is undergoing renovations, had a single queen bed room where the light wasn't working. No big deal, swap rooms, all good. The GM Lucy went above and beyond and hooked up a king suit. Thanks so much!
I stayed here Nov 26th as I was in town to visit family for Thanksgiving. I used points to get a king room for free. Reading some of the recent reviews made me concerned and wondering if I should consider other options but I decided to take a chance. The hotel sent me an email a few days ahead of time warning about the ongoing renovations and clearly spelled out what wasn't currently available. Since the renovation work is from 8am to 6pm it wasn't going to effect us since we were arriving after 6 and planned to leave by 9am. I'm glad we decided to take a chance. We were in a a king suite that had clearly been renovated. Everything in it was fresh and new. The front desk staff was welcoming and friendly and again reminded me that the pool was out of service for renovation. The only smell in the hotel was of new carpet in the second floor hallway. The breakfast had several options and the food was hot. If I had to nitpick something it's that there was a crumpled up cocktail napkin on the floor in the elevator when we got there and it was still there when we checked out the next day. We didn't notice any noise and got a good night of sleep ahead of the holiday. I'd stay here again.
Conveniently located within a reasonable walking distance to Valparaiso University. The free breakfast is hearty and satisfying. The service is great. My room - a suite with 1 king size bed is somewhat dated but comfortable. plus points: reasonably priced, free breakfast buffet and parking, conveniently located to valparaiso university
Front desk was very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was better than most and was clean and well maintained. Only complaint is that the pillows were not comfortable.
I am a Marriott Rewards customer, and the room was ok, but the bed could have been firmer and the AC unit will need an upgrade in the next two (2) years.
Our room is wonderful. This particular room has a sitting area that includes a coach, comfy chair, office desk and a second TV. Clean throughout. The staff is very friendly and breakfast as offering the great hot and cold options.
Perfect locale for visiting Valparaiso Univ, close to charming downtown Valpo, reservations through the friendly and efficient staff nick and Lucy, day staff Taylor and Sam cordial helpful. The rooms, though a bit dated (they are updating) are very clean, spacious, quiet and comfortable, I would def stay there again when in the area- from a Marriott member
Went for family weekend at Valparaiso University. Couldn't be there till Saturday at noon. Allowed us an early check-in so we could get over to the school. Between events was nice to be able to go back and relax until the next one. Pool was open, but unfortunately the heater had broken, so was cold. They did inform us at check-in though. No one can predict a heater failure. Rooms were clean and comfortable. All the employees were friendly. Breakfast was as normal for a suburban location. There was scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, sausage/egg/cheese biscuits, oatmeal, other usual choices on a continental style breakfast. There are close by restaurants for other meals. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back.
